We are now closed to daily tours for the 2008 season and will reopen on Friday, March 20, 2009.  Group tours and access to the Historical Society Library and Archives are available by appointment.  Please contact Lennie Bowe at (757) 787-8012 for more information. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for AAA members, $2 for Children under 17, and free to members of the Historical Society. Discounts are available for group tours.

Windsor Chair Making – Session I 
Class at Ker Place.Make a Windsor chair under the teaching of John Robinson, Master Chair Maker from Ontario, Canada. Use hand tools and steaming and bending techniques as used in the Federal Period.Take home your completed chair.

John Robinson, will present a lecture on Windsor Chairs at Ker Place
Lecture at Ker Place, 7 pm.John Robinson, Master Chair Maker, will discuss regional styles, chair makers and chair making on the Eastern Shore and will use chairs currently at Ker Place as examples.

Social Hour 5:30 pm at Ker Place and dinner meeting at Market Street United Methodist Church.Historical Society members are invited to attend. Reservation required.

“When the Morning Comes”
Exhibition Opening Reception  6:00 PM 
Curated by historian Frances Latimer, the exhibition will feature documents, artifacts, and photographs that shed light on the history of African-American experience on the Eastern Shore.
July 13-17
Summer at Ker Place – Basic Camp
History camp for rising 3rd and 4th graders at Ker Place, 9 am to 1 pm each day.Campers learn by taking tours and doing various activities as they were done in the 1800s.Registration required.
July 20 - 24
Summer at Ker Place – Advanced  History Camp
History camp for return campers and rising 5th graders at Ker Place, 9 am to 1 pm each day.Campers become apprentices to crafts people in woodworking, candle making, and other skills of the 1800.Registration required.
December 12
Holiday Celebration with History
Open House at Ker Place.Holiday celebration for the whole family – historically oriented exhibits and entertainment plus refreshments.No admission charge.
